Using tape on your maple sports floor can damage not only the paint on top of the maple, but will also rip up the floor’s finish, causing damage to the gym floor itself. Tape will pull up paint, but the problem is the adhesive in the paint is stronger than the adhesive between the two coats of finish on your floor. Ripping up tape from your floor will cause both finishing coats underneath to be destroyed.
